Rental
A rental spreads payments across an agreed term. Compare monthly amounts, minimum obligations, care, promotional periods and possible early-termination charges.
Outright purchase
An outright purchase has an upfront product price. Check the warranty and the service period included with the exact model; they may differ from a rental plan.
Compare like with like
Include the same model, size, accessories, installation and care in both quotations. Check who owns the equipment and what happens after the agreement ends.
Start with equivalent quotations
Ask for rental and outright quotations for the same product variant. Record the model, size or colour, installation, accessories, included care and warranty. If these differ, write the differences beside the amounts so that a lower number is not mistaken for the same package.
Choose a comparison period
A fixed period such as seven years can make the arithmetic clearer, but the agreement may end earlier or contain optional extensions. Multiply rental payments only for the months you are evaluating, and add purchase-related services or other expenses when they are known. An unknown future cost should remain unknown rather than being treated as zero.

A seven-year example: Icon Ice
The following uses the reference Icon Ice Heart Service 7+0 amount and outright product price. It illustrates base amounts only; the two options may include different care and warranty periods. Prices checked 6 Nov 2026.

The rental calculation excludes promotions, extra installation, relocation, late payment and any other charges. The outright figure is not a seven-year total: add the cost of care, replacement parts or other expenses that are not included, if applicable. Ask for both written quotations and the service schedule.
A lower monthly payment alone does not establish the lower overall cost. Also check the agreement’s obligation, ownership, return conditions and early-termination terms before deciding.
